چکیده

Diabetes, which is mainly characterized by increased apoptosis and dysfunction of beta (β) cells, a metabolic disease caused impairment pancreatic islet function. Previous studies have demonstrated that death-associated protein kinase-related apoptosis-inducing kinase-2 (Drak2) involved in regulating β cell survival. Since natural products multiple targets often are multifunctional, making them promising compounds for the treatment diabetes, we identified Drak2 inhibitors from product library. Among products, luteolin, flavonoid, was found to be most effective compound. In vitro, luteolin effectively alleviated palmitate (PA)-induced cells PA-induced primary vivo, showed tendency lower blood glucose levels. It also STZ-induced disruption mice. This function partially relied on inhibition. Furthermore, relieve oxidative stress promote autophagy possibly improving slowing progression diabetes. conclusion, our findings show effect relieving diabetes offer potential therapeutic target protection cells. We reveal some underlying mechanisms luteolin’s cytoprotective

Epoxypukalide Induces Proliferation and Protects against Cytokine-Mediated Apoptosis in Primary Cultures of Pancreatic β-Cells

There is an urgency to find new treatments for the devastating epidemic of diabetes. Pancreatic β-cells viability and function are impaired in the two most common forms of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Regeneration of pancreatic β-cells has been proposed as a potential therapy for diabetes. In a preliminary study, we screened a collection of marine products for β-cell proliferation. One unique c...

An SCFFBXO28 E3 Ligase Protects Pancreatic β-Cells from Apoptosis.

Loss of pancreatic β-cell function and/or mass is a central hallmark of all forms of diabetes but its molecular basis is incompletely understood. β-cell apoptosis contributes to the reduced β-cell mass in diabetes. Therefore, the identification of important signaling molecules that promote β-cell survival in diabetes could lead to a promising therapeutic intervention to block β-cell decline dur...

Mulberry fruit extract protects pancreatic β-cells against hydrogen peroxide-induced apoptosis via antioxidative activity.

Among the many environmental stresses, excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the ensuring oxidative stress are known to cause significant cellular damage. This has clinical implications in the onset of type 1 diabetes, which is triggered by the destruction of pancreatic β-cells and is associated with oxidative stress. In this study, we investigated the protective and antioxi...

Portulaca oleracea protects H9c2 cardiomyocytes against doxorubicin-induced toxicity via regulation of oxidative stress and apoptosis

Abstract  Background and Objectives: Doxorubicin as an effective chemotherapeutic agent is frequently used in various cancers. Nowadays, the application of doxorubicin is limited due to its cardiotoxic effects. The important mechanism which is involved in the cardiac injury of doxorubicin is the generation of reactive oxygen species; therefore antioxidant compounds may reduce cardiotoxicity. ...

Lycopene protects against apoptosis in hypoxia/reoxygenation‑induced H9C2 myocardioblast cells through increased autophagy.

Lycopene (Ly), the most common type of antioxidant in the majority of diet types, provides tolerance to ischemia/reperfusion injury. However, the underlying mechanism of the protective effects observed following Ly administration remains poorly investigated. The aim of the current study was to investigate whether Ly prevents damage to hypoxia/reoxygenation (HR)‑induced H9C2 myocardioblasts in a...
